Deputies: No charges in deadly Laurens Co. shooting; family member acted in self-defense

Deputies say an investigation is underway after a body was found floating in Lake Greenwood on Saturday.

Officials with the Laurens County Sheriff's Office said deputies were dispatched to the lake after 5:20 p.m.

The coroner said the body was found floating in the water near the Crystal Bay area.

Coroner Nick Nichols identified the victim as 37-year-old Cain Ashley DeYoung of Ninety Six.

Nichols said the time of death was estimated to be October 12 at 9:40 p.m.

An autopsy was performed Monday but Nichols said the cause of death remains under investigation.

There are no details yet on whether or not the death was suspicious or accidental.
