The Spartanburg County sheriff is calling for prayers for three young children who were found inside a home with two dead adults Tuesday evening. The coroner said the deaths are being investigated as a homicide-suicide.
The investigation unfolded on Anderson Drive in the Croft Area around 7:30 p.m.
Sheriff Chuck Wright says two people were found deceased. The victims knew each other, but Wright said their relationship isn't clear.
Coroner Rusty Clevenger identified the deceased as Daryl Lee Foster, 31, and Rickeya Latrice Stroble, 26, both of Anderson Drive.
Clevenger said the deaths appear to be the result of a homicide-suicide with Foster being the aggressor.
Two kids, ages 10 and six, were also found in the home along with an infant. None of the children were harmed, the sheriff said.
"It's just hard to have to tell these babies that stuff," Wright said during a news conference. "The 10-year-old knows what's going on and they told us and I was like, my God."
The sheriff is asking people to pray for the children.
“I ask you, if you’re watching to start a prayer chain for these babies, because they’re gonna need us," Wright said.
The children will be interviewed by investigators that specialize in working with kids to find out what they saw.
"I wanted to take them home myself," the sheriff said of the children. "So did everybody else, but we had to take them to a different spot. These professionals are going to take care of them."
A neighbor, Jeff Sims, said he was shocked by the incident. He said the family was always quiet and described them as "just regular people that fit in the neighborhood peacefully."
Family members said the couple had been together for 12 years and they were never aware of any serious issues.
"This is just a very unfortunate thing that happened tonight," Wright said. "I don't have any good answers of why these things happen. I just know that you have to depend on God to pull you through these things because you can't do it by yourself. You shouldn't even try."
A GoFundMe has been set up for the children involved in the incident.
