Oconee Co. Sheriff's Office tables talk on arming voluntary school employees

The Anderson County Sheriff's Office said a middle school student is charged after disturbing text messages were investigated.

Deputies said on Monday, a school resource officer was made aware of messages with "threats of great violence against the students" which were sent to several students at Riverside Middle School.

After an investigation, deputies said they determined a 14-year-old Riverside Middle student was responsible. The student has been charged with disturbing schools.

The teen was transported to the juvenile holding facility in Greenville.
