Deputies: Man accused of assaulting woman while she was riding in car, not letting her out of vehicle

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office said a Seneca man has been charged with kidnapping and domestic violence offenses after he reportedly assaulted a woman who riding in a car with him and then refused to let her out of the vehicle.

Deputies said the incident happened on April 26. They began investigating after meeting with the victim at an address on Gillespie Drive. Deputies said the victim had visible injuries from the attack.

The victim told deputies Michael Ed Blandon Childs, 39, was driving when he attacked her and then refused to let her out of the car when she asked. She was later able to escape when they arrived at a home and got a ride to the address where she met deputies.

Deputies said Childs turned himself in on Sunday.
