Six Upstate high school teams compete in Upper State Finals Friday

The Richland County Sheriff's Office took to Twitter on Friday night to respond to rumors circulating on social media about a shooting at a high school football game.

As Week 2 of high school football was underway across the Carolinas, there was a moment of chaos in the stadium at the Irmo versus Dutch Fork game.

It is not clear what occurred, but deputies said the stadium was cleared as a precaution although there were no injuries.

"No one was shot!" The Sheriff's Office tweeted. "Despite the rumors no shots fired there."

Regrading the Irmo/Dutch fork game, the stadium was cleared as a percatioun only. Again no shots fired.— Richland County Sheriff's Dept. (@RCSD) September 1, 2018
