Officials with the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office need your help to identify a subject they say was involved in a larceny on Saturday.

According to deputies, the man was captured on surveillance footage around 1:38 p.m. at the Dollar General Store in Candler, NC.

When approached by law enforcement, he fled the scene, and a subsequent vehicle pursuit was eventually terminated for public safety reasons.

A short time later, deputies said the subject was confronted by a deputy working the Asheville Outlets, where the subject was a suspect in a larceny.

Deputies said the suspect then ran from the deputy and assaulted the same deputy with his vehicle, which was described as a black 2001 Mercedes CLK320 with a temporary paper registration tag. A small amount of damage on the driver's side rear quarter panel can also be seen on the vehicle.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of the suspect is asked to contact the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office.
