Extra security to patrol Upstate middle school Tuesday after threat posted in bathroom on campus

 

School officials at Cowpens Middle School say extra security will be on hand Tuesday after a threatening message was found on school campus.

Per officials, at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Monday a student reported a written threat on the boy's bathroom wall concerning the school day on Tuesday.

Spartanburg County Deputies were called in to search the school Monday afternoon and extra security will be on campus during school on Tuesday.

The incident is under investigation.

Here is the full message from the school:Today at approximately 3:00 p.m. a Cowpens Middle School student reported a written threat on a boy’s bathroom wall concerning the school day, tomorrow, February 27. The school will be searched by Spartanburg County Sheriff’s officers this afternoon and extra security will be on hand Tuesday.

We are unable to determine the validity of this threat, but we take every situation very seriously as our students and staff safety is paramount.
