The South Carolina Highway Patrol is asking for help locating the driver of a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run with a pedestrian in Oconee County.

Troopers say the incident occurred around 1 p.m. on July 28 at Clearmont Road near Holcombe Street in Westminster.

The pedestrian, 74-year-old Fern Jennings, suffered serious injuries.

"She has a broken vertebrae and three broken ribs," Jennings daughter, Sharon Weaver said.

Jennings daughter said she was checking the mail when she was hit by an SUV.

"She walked over to her mailbox and got the mail out. She was well off the shoulder of the road," Weaver said, "She looked down at her mail while waiting on the vehicle to pass and she was hit before she really knew what happened."

Troopers are looking for a black 1996 -1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It could have possible damage to the passenger side and mirror.

Jennings is in the hospital but expected to make a full recovery.
