Firefighters with the Berea Fire Department said a 67-year-old woman who suffers from Alzheimer’s and went missing Friday morning was found safe.

Deputies said Maria Elsie Tamayo Tobon had been last seen around 9 a.m. on West Crossridge Drive wearing a blue nightgown and slippers.

Tobon has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and deputies said she only speaks Spanish.

Nearby residents were notified via the “A Child is Missing” program and deputies said bloodhounds were brought in to search for Tobon.

Just before noon, firefighters told FOX Carolina's crew at the scene that Tobon had been found and that she was safe.

Tobon was located at the Berea laundromat on Hunts Bridge Road, about half-a-mile from her home.
