Five weeks of repaving construction projects begin in Greer Station

Officials with the city of Greer said five weeks of construction projects in the Greer Station area will begin Monday.

The following projects are among the work order: Paving and improving access to alleyways behind Trade Street businesses, and between Dance Visions and First Presbyterian Church's Kirk Hall. Repaving, striping and lighting the parking lot behind Kirk Hall. Repaving, striping and lighting the Depot Parking Lot. Creating a new paved parking lot with striping and lighting behind the Depot.The areas will be closed to traffic during construction.

During the construction, asphalt and curb will be removed and a new curb, gutters, sidewalks, pedestrian ramps and storm drains will be installed prior to asphalt resurfacing.

“It's an ambitious construction schedule that adheres to the City of Greer's commitment to minimize impact to downtown businesses in every way possible,” project manager Phil Rhoads said in a news release.

Businesses in the Greer Station area will remain open during the construction.

Officials said customers can visit www.futuregreer.com for additional construction updates, maps and images to make navigating the area easier.
