Voters in Georgia took to the polls on Tuesday to decide if alcohol sales should be allowed on Sundays in Stephens County.
Residents in Stephens County and the City of Toccoa cast their votes on whether to authorize a permit that would regulate the sale of malt beverages and wine on Sundays from 12:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Over 50 percent of voters in Stephens County said yes to the Sunday alcohol sales with 1,573 votes, and 1,562 voters said no.
Over 51 percent of voters in the City of Toccoa said yes to the Sunday alcohol sales with 478 votes, and 449 voters said no.
The permit in Stephens County will include for on-site consumption of those beverages on Sundays from 12:30 p.m. to midnight. The permit in the City of Toccoa will also allow the sale of distilled spirits.
