The Greenville Zoo said officials gathered Friday to announce the name of the baby giraffe recently born at the zoo.

Her name is Kiden, Greenville Zoo director Jeff Bullock announced during a special ceremony.

Bullock said Kiden is an African name meaning "girl who is born after 3-plus boys."

Zookeepers picked their favorite among the names submitted during an online content, which ended Thursday. 249 names were submitted.

The Grubel family, from Greer, that submitted the winning name also submitted the name "Kiko," which was given to Autumn's firstborn.

The baby was born on January 31 at 11:52 a.m. She weighed 157 pounds and was 6 feet, 2 inches tall.

The zoo's veterinarian said Autumn has handled the challenges of dealing with a newborn very well, and both mom and baby are doing great.

The zoo is currently closed for annual maintenance but will reopen to the public on Saturday at 10 a.m.
