Greenwood School District 50 said an elementary school has resumed normal operations after a lockout Tuesday afternoon.

The school district said Springfield Elementary School went on a lockout around noon after a staff member reported hearing a loud noise in the distance while on the playground.

According to the school district, law enforcement was called and investigated the situation.

The school district said officers determined there was a loud noise in the distance, but there was never any danger to students or staff.

The school has returned to a normal schedule, but there will not be any outdoor recess for the rest of the day.
