Lonza has announced plans to expand its Greenwood County plant. The company said Wednesday it would invest $46 million over the next five years to generate 30 new jobs.

Lonza, headquartered in Switzerland, is one of the world's leading suppliers to the pharmaceutical, biotech and specialty ingredients markets, according to a news release.

Lonza's said workers produce empty capsules and finished dosage forms of capsules. The new investment will add 50,000 square feet of new manufacturing space to the plant located at 535 North Emerald Road in Greenwood, which will enable the plant to produce other nutritional ingredients.

Hiring for the new positions will take place starting in mid-2018. Those looking to join the Lonza team should visit the company's careers page online.
