Alice Manufacturing said the company is phasing out operations at its Ellison plant in Easley this summer.

The Pickens County-based manufacturer said the Ellison plant employs 175 people and they are working to place employees with other Pickens County companies. They are also offering training and scholarships for continuing education to help associates with job transitions.

Since its establishment in 1968, the Ellison plant has produced over a billion yards of fabric for uses from apparel to home furnishings.

Alice Manufacturing said the markets that plants like Ellison depend on have changed dramatically over the years.

“Our company is dedicated to helping employees make as smooth a transition as possible,” said chairman E. Smyth McKissick.
