A man who is charged with murder after an incident at a restaurant in Travelers Rest is expected to appear in court on Wednesday morning.

Officials said 45-year-old Jason Butler was involved with a disturbance at the Chick-fil-A drive-thru on Benton Road in April. When they arrived on scene, police said they found Butler holding a gun to his head.

When Butler was taken into custody, officers said he began talking about a crime for which he felt guilty out of North Carolina. The confession led investigators to a home in Forest City where they found the body of 49-year-old Michael Splawn.

Butler was later extradited back to Rutherford County to face a murder charge in connection with Splawn's shooting death.

According to the calendar for the North Carolina court system, Butler has a hearing in Superior Court.
