Furman University's sports director, Mike Buddie anxiously waited for this Tuesday to come since Greenville was selected for March Madness games. NCAA officials got their first glimpse of Bon Secours Wellness Arena and Greenville. The men's NCAA division 1 basketball tournament is being held at there in March.

The first and second rounds will be held march 17th and 19th. Furman University and the Southern Conference are co-hosting the event. Members from the NCAA toured the arena to see how game day would flow for players and fans.

They also checked out downtown Greenville’s sights, hotels and restaurants. According to Buddie, there is already a significant entrance by fans in coming here, even though no one knows who is playing yet.

"It’s really cool. What I love about the March madness tournament is we've almost sold out on tickets sessions,” explained Buddie, “That are going to be here in Greenville. We have no idea what teams will be here."

Those teams will be chosen March 12th.

Greenville last hosted a n-c-a-a basketball tournament back in 2002.
