Greenville appears to be right on trend with the grand opening of a brand new axe throwing facility.

Craft Axe Throwing located in Hampton Station will open Thursday night. The facility has 10 throwing lanes, which guests rent by the hour. Points are scored based on where the axe hits the target, similar to darts.

Owner Jake Jenson moved to Greenville a year ago from Nebraska and opened the Greenville Escape Room on Garlington Road.

He says experience-based entertainment is gaining in popularity.

“When we came across the idea (of axe throwing) we thought it sounds intriguing," Jenson said. "So we prototyped it in our warehouse and just had a blast. Played for hours with friends and family and that’s when we realized this is something we should put into Greenville.”

Craft Axe is located at 1320 Wade Hampton Ave Ext. unit 5A.

The location will be open from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, from noon to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
