A Grand Opening ceremony was held on September 10. Mayor Knox White was joined by city and county officials along with community partners and the project team for the grand opening.

The new road, named Parallel Parkway, connects Verdae Boulevard and Woodruff Industrial Drive.

According to the city, the road is expected to ease congestion along Woodruff Road by 7500 cars per day.

City officials have said the parkway will allow people access to stores like Target, Home Depot, and the Magnolia Point shopping complex without having to turn onto Woodruff Road.

Funding for the parkway was made possible through a partnership made up of Piedmont Natural Gas, the City of Greenville, Greenville County, the Greenville Legislative Delegation Transportation Committee, Hollingsworth Funds and Verdae Properties, and Magnolia Park Greenville.
