Newberry Co. Deputies: Help needed in locating armed and dangerous attempted murder suspect

The Newberry County Sheriff's Office is asking for public assistance in locating a subject wanted for attempted murder.

Per deputies, Matthew LeGrande Jackson, 28 of Johnston, is wanted after he cut and stabbed a man on Sunset Road in Prosperity on Wednesday just before 8: 30 p.m.

They say there had been an argument between Jackson and the victim earlier in the day and that Jackson had later come to where the victim was and attacked him with a sharp object.

The victim was transported to a local hospital and then to a Columbia area hospital for his injuries.

Jackson is described as a male who is 5'11" and 160 pounds. He has blonde hair and blue eyes. He is blind in his left eye.

Jackson should be considered armed and dangerous.
