Plane Crashes near Woodlawn Memorial Park

A look at a plane crash in Greenville (FOX Carolina, October 10, 2021)

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina)- Firefighters with the Wade Hampton Fire Department says that a plane crashed into the trees near Woodlawn Memorial Park on Sunday. 

Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) officials said the crash happened at around 12:10 p.m. on Sunday and involved a single-engine Composite Technology Light Sport aircraft. Only the piolet was in the airplane when it crashed, according to FAA officials. The FAA said they will continue to investigate the crash.

According to Wade Hampton Fire, the plane was headed towards an airport near downtown Greenville when the pilot reported problems with the oil pressure.  Firefighters said that the pilot initially was going to try to land in the airport but instead deployed the plane's parachutes and landed in the trees. 

The pilot is reported to have minor injuries and is not being transported as of this writing, according to the fire department.
