The Easley Police Department said the mother of a young child found wandering along the street Monday morning has been arrested and charged.

Officers said the girl, believed to be 2 years old, was found near Ross Avenue and Preston Street around 11:30 a.m. She was wearing a black and red dress with white tights.

Investigators said at 4:30 p.m. that they were able to locate her mother after issuing a reverse 911 call, sending officers to knock on every door in the area, and posting the girl's photo on social media.

Police said they learned that the child had been left alone at a home.

The mother, Teaunna Antwonesse Gantt, was arrested and charged with unlawful conduct towards a child. She is being held in jail on no bond.

The child was placed with the Department of Social Services.
