A large law enforcement presence is on scene in Westminster Tuesday afternoon, investigating suspicious contents in a vehicle, per police.

Per the Westminster Police Chief, officers conducted a traffic stop for a suspect impaired driver and noticed two suspicious packages in the back of the van. Both of the packages said "flammable" on them, the chief confirmed.

Police then called in the fire department to block off East Main Street and Nationwide Insurance was evacuated. The bomb squad was also called in to check out the contents of the packages.

Police say there was no explosive found, but the bomb squad did confirm the packages contained some type of chemical compound. They would not provide any additional information on what the x-ray revealed, but HAZMAT will be working to determine the chemical make up.

The driver was arrested on scene and charged with reckless driving, open container and drug paraphernalia.

The investigation is ongoing.
