Police said Liberty High School was placed on a precautionary lockdown Friday due to a nearby law enforcement scene.
According to officers, the Pickens City Police Department was engaged in a pursuit that ended near the high school.
John Eby with the Pickens County School District said the school administration was contacted about a suspect being chased near campus around noon.
The school was placed on lockdown for approximately one hour and all students remained in locked classrooms, Eby said.
Just before 1:15 p.m., police confirmed the lockdown had been lifted.
Eby said the school has resumed normal operations.
