Black Mountain Police say they arrested a man and charged him with three counts of statutory rape after locating him at a motel with a 14-year-old over the weekend.

Police say they responded to Acorn Motel located on West State Street on Sunday after a call from the parent of a 14-year-old girl who said she had disappeared suddenly from the Wilmington area.

Upon arrival, investigators located the juvenile along with a 23-year-old male identified as Daniel Joseph Setzer.

Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that Setzer and the juvenile had sexual intercourse multiple times between Friday and Saturday, police said.

He was arrested and charged with three counts of statutory rape and the juvenile was reunited with her parents.

Setzer is currently behind bars at the Buncombe County Detention Center under a $500,000 secured bond.
