Greer police said the teen suspect in a shooting and beating at an apartment complex in November 2017 is being charged as an adult.

The incident occurred on November 24 at the Madison Haven Apartments on Madison Haven Drive.

Police said the victim fled the scene and was located at the Cannon Center. The victim said at least two gunshots were fired but he was not hit. The victim was beaten and had signs of swelling, cuts, and scratches on his face, police said.

The victim told police a female he did not know had invited him over and told him to bring a friend, so he brought his brother along. While they were at the apartment, the victim said he and his brother decided to leave because something did not feel right. That’s when they were cornered by a male and two females.

A 2016 Hyundai Elanta was also reported stolen in the incident.

A juvenile suspect was arrested.

On May 25, the suspect, Nicholas Mendieta, was booked into the Spartanburg County jail on his 17th birthday.

Police said Mendieta will be charged as an adult.

Jail records show Mendieta is charged with attempted murder and kidnapping.
