Anderson police said they are working to identify a man accused of robbing a woman inside a Walmart Monday night.

Police said the incident was caught on the store’s surveillance footage.

Cindy Bridges said she was shopping in the Walmart on Liberty Highway around 11 p.m. when a man started speaking to her in the sporting goods area about bait. She said the man walked off but then came back and jerked her gold necklace right off her neck.

Bridges said she tried to fight him off and began screaming for help.

She said the man took off running with the necklace, a gift from her father, and ran out of the store through the lawn and garden entrance. The police report states that the suspect fled on a motorcycle.

“How dare him take my necklace that my Dad gave me,” Bridges said Tuesday morning. “I’m still in shock and can’t stop crying.”

Bridges said she’s a single parent who works three jobs and tremendously upset.

“I can’t even be safe in Walmart now,” Bridges said. “Please don’t let him get away with this."

Walmart issued the following statement on the incident:"We take the security of everyone in our stores seriously and have a number of procedures in place intended to keep our customers and associates safe. We will continue working closely with law enforcement on this matter and must refer all other questions to local police."Anderson police ask anyone with information about the suspect to call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
