One Upstate High School is praying for a student who is being placed in hospice care as she continues to battle cancer.
Bella Muntean is a freshman at Riverside High School. She was featured in a video Greenville County Schools posted in October, highlighting her love for music and her battle with the disease.
On Wednesday, Riverside High School shared an Instagram post from Bella, in which she reveals some devastating news: her tumors have grown, new ones have appeared, and they can no longer treat her. After recovering from a surgery to repair a tumor that was bleeding in her lung, which caused her to cough up part of a bronchial tube, she said doctors will place her on hospice care.
Bella said she needs a miracle to survive, and she’s optimistic that God will perform one.
“This is not the end,” Bella wrote in the post. “I know that God has a plan for me and that He does perform miracles. With every cell in my body, I believe that I will be healed and that a miracle will be performed for me.”
The high school posted on Facebook encouraging other students battling hardships to put their woes in perspective by thinking of Bella:“PERSPECTIVE. Many of you know Bella. Many of you have sat beside her in class, prayed for her, visited her, texted her. When you face hardships, think of Bella. Use Bella's story to figure out... is your problem really that big? Are you using courage and strength to fight like a Warrior? Are you continually seeking solutions with humility and hope? Have you asked for help? (You never have to fight alone.) Even against the harshest of circumstances, Bella is a shining light, providing inspiration for all.”
A prayer vigil will be held for Bella on Sunday evening at Covenant United Methodist Church. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the church, located at 1310 Old Spartanburg Road in Greer.
