South Carolina’s Department of Natural Resources is offering a free lifetime hunting license to any hunter in the state who kills one of the coyotes that have been tagged and released into the state’s four game zones.

The 2018 Coyote Harvest Release Incentive Program states that 16 coyotes have been tagged and released. Eight tagged coyotes released in 2016 have not been claimed yet, so there are potentially 24 trophy coyotes that can earn hunters a free lifetime hunting license.

The SC DNR said hunters must save the carcass for verification in order to receive the complimentary hunting license. The free license can also be given to another person of the hunter’s choosing.
