Officials will test warning sirens around Oconee Nuclear Station Wednesday

South Carolina’s Emergency Management Division said state and local emergency managers and nuclear safety personnel will carry out safety training exercises at the Oconee Nuclear Station.

SCEMD said participating agencies will test their abilities to respond to a simulated emergency incident at the nuclear power plant in Seneca.

FEMA will evaluate how successfully the state and local responders perform during the drill and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission will evaluate the plant’s operators.
