GENERIC - Water rescue drowning

MURRELLS INLET, S.C. (AP) — The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources says the body of a swimmer who went missing on the South Carolina coast at Murrells Inlet was recovered Monday night.

Rescue squads and the U.S. Coast Guard began searching after 21-year-old Roger "Trell" Wigfall of Pawleys Island was reported missing on Sunday afternoon.

Wigfall's relatives told the Myrtle Beach Sun News that the man often went out on a boat with friends on the weekend. Sister Astrid McCullough said she was just hoping he was holding on somewhere. 

Officials say teams were searching water that spanned from 5 to 20-feet deep. Six divers and three law enforcement boats were deployed. 

SCDNR said their Aquatic Investigations and Recovery dive team located Wigfall's body Monday night around 8 o'clock. 

Crews with Horry County Fire Rescue, Horry County Police Department, Murrells Inlet Garden City Fire Rescue, and the US Coast Guard assisted in the search for Wigfall.
