The Pickens County Coroner confirms a pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle Saturday night.

The coroner said 16-year-old Sarah Allysa Stamey of Greenville was attempting to cross Calhoun Memorial Highway when she was struck by a vehicle traveling North on the roadway.

The collision occurred at approximately 8:20 p.m. at the 6500 block.

Easley Police say preliminary investigation reveals, Stamey was struck by a 2017 Jeep Wrangler as she attempted to cross the highway. They said, she was not crossing at an intersection nor a designated pedestrian cross walk.

The driver of the car was traveling in the proper lane and travel of direction, they continued.

Stamey was transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital where she was later pronounced dead, police said.

No charges have been filed.
