A third suspect was charged in the 2013 fatal shooting of a Greenwood man, according to our coverage partner GWD Today.

Jail officials confirmed Gary Guffey, 34, is being held in the Greenwood County Detention Center after being charged with one count of murder and one count of receiving stolen goods.

GWD Today reported that Guffey was arrested in Clarendon after a traffic stop when officers discovered active warrants for Guffey's arrest for the murder of Lonnie Cogdill.

Cogdill was found shot to death inside his home on East Laurel Avenue on Oct. 11.

Two other suspects were charged in the case in November. Daniel Allen, 35, was charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. His wife Megan Allen, 20, was charged with accessory to murder.

GWD Today reported that investigators believe Guffey and Allen shot Cogdill after a dispute.

Gary Guffey was booked into the Greenwood County Detention Center on Friday and was denied bond by a magistrate judge, according to jail officials.
