Topgolf on Tuesday officially announced plans for its Greenville location and the creation of hundreds of new jobs.
Topgolf said construction on the 55,000-square-foot venue will begin this spring at the intersection of I-85 and Pelham Road, and it is expected to open in summer 2019.
The company said Topgolf Greenville will create 325 full-and part-time jobs.
“We welcome Topgolf to Greenville County and the Upstate, with its unique entertainment and event venue that is attractive to families, individuals and groups,” said Greenville County Council Chairman Butch Kirven in a news release. “We appreciate the jobs and economic benefits Topgolf brings to our community and wish them great success.”
Topgolf offers golf play, music, food, drinks and more.
The company said even non-golfers will enjoy the competition, which includes point-scoring games that use microchipped balls which instantly score themselves in the climate controlled hitting bays.
“Throughout the years, we have received countless inquiries from South Carolina residents asking us to build a Topgolf venue,” said Topgolf Chief Development Officer Chris Callaway in a news release. “We couldn’t be more excited to offer the Greenville community a new destination for year-round indoor and outdoor entertainment that can be enjoyed by all ages.”
The three-level venue will feature 1,500 square feet of private event space and 72 climate-controlled hitting bays that can be enjoyed by as many as six players at a time.
