SC Highway Patrol troopers are investigating a fatal collision on I-85 South in Anderson County.

Per troopers, the collision took place near mile marker 18 early Sunday at approximately 3:25 a.m.

Troopers say a driver and a passenger from Richmond, VA were traveling South on I-85 when their car ran off the right side of the road and struck a guardrail. Neither of them were injured at this point, troopers say.

The driver of the vehicle then exited the car to tend to it when the driver entered the roadway and was struck by a car traveling southbound on I-85, troopers confirm. The pedestrian succumbed to injuries sustained in the collision on scene.

Another vehicle then struck the disabled vehicle and injured the passenger sitting inside, troopers said.

All lanes were blocked until shortly after 7 a.m.
