Troopers said a woman has been charged in a hit-and-run crash on July 4, which left a motorcyclist lying in the middle of the road in Pickens County.

"I don't even remember how I got out of the car, I know that I had to put it in park," Maryann Duncan s said she was a few paces behind her husband on July 4, heading home from a cookout when the crash happened.

"As I got around and I looked down, I saw the motorcycle and I instantly knew that it was him," Duncan said. "I just had that dead gut feeling that you know it was him when I saw it."

Troopers said a car took off after hitting Ron Duncan on his motorcycle along Durham Mill Road and Highway 183 in Pickens County.

"My mouth was to the floor, I couldn't believe that somebody would hit someone and not stop," Kelly Topper said.

Topper explained she and Ron Duncan have been friends for at least 10 years. She had to hold back tears when she saw her friend laying in a hospital bed inside Greenville Memorial Hospital.

"Just seeing him, it really took a lot out of him to breathe and it scared me," Topper said.

Doctors said Duncan has 11 broken ribs, a broken leg, an arm broken in three places, skull damage and his spleen and pelvic area are hurt.

Troopers said they are still searching for the suspect. They do not have a description of the car or the driver.

"Turn yourself in, and fess up to what you've done," Topper said "You've hurt a really good man and a man who is providing for his family and now he cannot."

Friends tell us his wife will be the only one working for awhile, juggling time between the hospital and the office.

"He just has a heart of gold, I don't think he has an enemy out there because he's that genuine," Maryann Duncan said. "The night it happened the nurse in ICU told me they were going to keep him because he was just so sweet!"

Troopers confirmed Tuesday that an arrest had been made in the case.

Troopers said Trista Marie Sanders was arrested on July 14 and charged with leaving the scene of a crash with great bodily injury.

Sanders was still in jail Tuesday, per Pickens Co. Detention Center records.

Troopers said the crash remains under investigation.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Duncan's family.
