Two charged after shooting and attempted armed robbery

Two men are facing charges stemming from an incident that happened Wednesday night on Sumac Lane.

The victims, and adult and juvenile, reportedly told deputies that they had arrived to that location to visit a friend when a man started asking them for money and presented a firearm.

Deputies with the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office said that was the pair drove off, shots were fired into the car, with the rear window being shattered.

Upon further investigation, deputies arrested Christauris Thompson, 20, of Duncan and Rakim Gaffney, 18, of Inman.

Thompson is charged with two counts of attempted murder, one count of armed robbery and one count of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

Gaffney is facing charges of armed robbery. Warrants stated Gaffney attempted to take the wallet of one of the victims before they drove off.

Both men are currently being held at the Spartanburg County Detention Center.
