(Meredith/CNN) -- A community is showing support for a teacher by raising over $180K after he was arrested for punching a student repeatedly following alleged racial slurs.

A GoFundMe started for 64-year-old Marston Riley exceeded an expected $50,000 goal in less than two days.

The total amount of money raised has grown to over $180,000 and donations are continuing to pour in by the minute.

The fist fight between Riley and a student was caught on camera in a room full of band students.

"All the racial slurs of that kid. That kid was just being very disrespectful," a Maywood Academy student said.

The music teacher at Maywood Academy High School in California taught at the school for seven years and is well-respected by teachers and students, according to a few students.

"He's really calm and he really respect his students and he cares about his students a lot," a Maywood Academy student said.

Students recorded the teacher punching a student after a confrontation. The brawl continued into a distributing fight across the classroom. According to KCAL, in the video, the teacher is wailing on the student with an unknown object, a suspected cell phone, nonstop.

The teen hits the ground and surrounding students and another adult attempts to pull the student away but the fight continues.

Riley has a court date at the end of November.
