Warrant: Dog, unable to walk, dies after being dragged on Simpsonville street


The Simpsonville Police Department said a man is facing a charge after a dog died on July 18.

According to an arrest warrant, Christopher Lee Thompson dragged a female pit bull on asphalt while the dog was unable to walk, resulting in her dying of heat stroke.

The warrant indicates the temperature was above 85 degrees at the time of the incident. Officers said the suspect committed the act "knowingly and intentionally."

Thompson was arrested and charged with ill treatment of animals after police reviewed video evidence and witness statements.
