(FOX Carolina) - The Clemson Tigers are gearing up for a battle on Monday against the Alabama Crimson Tide for the college football National Championship title.
The rivalry between the No. 2 Tigers and No. 1 Crimson Tide resumes in Santa Clara, California at Levi's Stadium. Kickoff is at 8 p.m. EST on ESPN on Monday, January 7.
Clemson made the trip to California Friday. The weekend was filled with press conferences, practices and preparation.
Sunday, head coaches Nick Saban and Dabo Swinney participated in a final, cordial press conference. Both coaches emphasized how much they respected the other and were excited to play against such talented teams.
Clemson fans from all over the country made the trip to the west coast this weekend, as well. Newly added flights from both United and American Airlines allowed those in South Carolina to fly directly to California.
Nick Saban will undoubtedly look to utilize a rotation of both his star quarterbacks, Tua Tagovailoa and Jalen Hurts as his secret weapon. Last year against UGA, a second half QB switch helped propel the Crimson Tide to a comeback win.
Clemson's offense isn't one to sleep on, though. True freshman quarterback Trevor Lawrence is a force in, and out of the pocket. His precision and calm demeanor have helped the Tigers reach a record scoring season.
Lawrence, combined with running back Travis Etienne and a deep bench of receivers, are sure to give the country's leading defense a run for their money.
FOX Carolina has crews in the Upstate and in California covering the contest. Sports director Aaron Cheslock and sports reporter Shannon Sommerville will both host "The Rivalry Resumes" at 7 p.m. EST on Monday on FOX Carolina, recapping the rivalry between Clemson and Alabama at the national level.
