(Meredith) -- Coffee really is an amazing thing. In one case, it was a literal life saver for three kittens.

Last week, Canadian oil worker Kendall Diwisch was on the job in Alberta when he spotted three kittens stuck in the snow. Their tails were frozen to the ground.

Kendall Diwisch rescued three kittens that were frozen in the snow in Alberta, Canada.

"So today I found these three fellows on one of the back roads near one of my wells. Most likely dropped off. Poor things were frozen into the ice so they had to have been there all night," Diwisch said in a Facebook post.

Thinking quickly, Diwisch grabbed his cup of coffee from his truck and poured it onto the kittens' tails to melt the ice. Thankfully, it worked -- all three kittens were freed easily.

Cause for Critters posted this photo of all three kittens with their new family.

He took the kittens home where they could get warm and have food and water. He then took them to Cause for Critters, an animal shelter in Alberta. All three kittens are healthy and were adopted by one family, so they will remain together.

"Thank you to Kendall for rescuing them and to the Trider family for taking them in," the shelter said in a Facebook post. "We are so happy that their story will have an amazing end."
