RAIN later today, then COLD air and possible winter weather lie ahead.

A mostly cloudy or overcast sky will be the rule today with areas of patchy drizzle developing into widespread rain. The best chance of rain in the Upstate will be between 5 and 11 PM.

Wednesday starts dry, but more shower activity could move in during the day, possibly mixing briefly with snowflakes in western NC. NO accumulation is expected.

With the extra clouds and possible rain, temperature will be tough to move from morning temperatures of 40s and low 50s Wednesday afternoon.

Clouds hang tough Thursday and Friday as even colder air arrives, and there remains a small chance of a brief wintry mix of rain and snow for the Upstate Friday…again with NO accumulation or travel issues expected.

Saturday brings a decent chance of accumulating snow (1-3”) to a good chunk of western North Carolina, fading to only flurries in the northern Upstate.

Upper teens to middle 20s are likely Sunday morning with sunshine returning by afternoon.
