snow

(Meredith) -- A 55-year-old Milwaukee man was found "dead and frozen" in his garage Tuesday morning after he apparently collapsed while shoveling snow, according to authorities.

A neighbor found Charles Lampley near a snow shovel in his detached garage, which was open at the time, WISN reported. Lampley was fully clothed and dressed for the weather.

It's unclear how long the man was in the garage; however, nothing appeared suspicious, according to the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office.

An autopsy is pending.

The death comes as the Midwest faces an arctic deep freeze, which has forced widespread school closures and prompted the U.S. Postal Service to suspend mail delivery to much of the region.

At least three other deaths have been linked to the weather system, including a man struck and killed by a snow plow in the Chicago area, a young couple whose SUV struck another on a snowy road in northern Indiana.
