GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - Former South Carolina governor and presidential candidate Nikki Haley took to Twitter Saturday to address a question Donald Trump posed at his rally in Conway.

“What happened to [Nikki Haley’s] husband? Where is he? He’s gone,” Trump said to attendees in a crowded room at Coastal Carolina University.

Haley’s husband, Michael Haley, has been deployed with the Army National Guard in Africa since June.

Haley was quick to reply. In a Twitter response she posted shortly after her own rally at the same time in Greenwood, she said:

“Michael is deployed serving our country, something you know nothing about. Someone who continually disrespects the sacrifices of military families has no business being commander in chief.”

Nikki Haley’s husband, Michael Haley, also reacted to Trump’s comments on Twitter.

During another rally later in the day in Lexington, Haley said:

“Donald Trump had a rally today, and in that rally, he mocked my husband’s military service. And I’ll say this: Donald, if you have something to say, don’t say it behind my back. Get on a debate stage and say it to my face. I am proud of Michael’s service. Every military family knows it’s a sacrifice. I have long talked about the fact that we need to have mental competency tests for [politicians] over the age of 75. Donald Trump claims he would pass that – maybe he would, maybe he wouldn’t. But if you mock the service of a combat veteran, you don’t deserve a drivers license, let alone to be president of the United States.”
