McDowell County Schools teacher resigns following sexual misconduct allegations

GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - McDowell County Schools confirmed that a former teacher was recently charged following allegations of sexual misconduct.

District officials said the situation began when they received information from the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office and the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) about charges of sexual misconduct involving Jessica Finley and a child.

According to district officials, Finley was a Guidance Counselor and Volleyball Coach for McDowell High School and immediately resigned after the district learned about the charges.

SBI officials stated that the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office asked them to investigate the situation on February 28. They confirmed that they took Finley into custody the same day and charged her.
