SMYRNA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Firefighters made a surprising discovery while putting out an early morning house fire in Smyrna.
The fire happened at a home on Debra Drive just around 1 a.m. Thursday. When crews arrived, they found large flames shooting from the roof.
According to fire investigators, the blaze started in the basement, where crews found hobby rocket fuel and equipment. Officials say one of the chemicals, ammonium chloride, “acted as an accelerant.”
No injuries were reported, but fire investigators are still looking into how the fire started.
