Roads blocked, thousands without power after severe storms

GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - Severe weather rolled through the western Carolinas on Wednesday afternoon, leaving downed trees and power lines.
As of 7:15 a.m. on Thursday, Duke Energy reported the following outage numbers
- Greenville County - 1,552
- Spartanburg County - 790
- Anderson County - 933
- Henderson County - 338
- McDowell County - 229
Crews are assessing damage and restoration time estimates range from noon to 7 p.m.
ACAC Greenville and Adventure Central on Congaree Road has closed temporarily due to a power outage caused by trees falling on power lines.
A viewer contacted FOX Carolina about downed trees and power lines blocking Lynch Court in Easley. The Easley Fire Department confirmed it is on scene.
Farrs Bridge Road in Pickens County was blocked due to downed power lines.
In Spartanburg County, trees are blocking Fairmont Avenue. Firefighters have the road blocked while they respond.

Spartanburg County Emergency Management opened an inclement weather shelter at 701 Saxon Avenue. The shelter will be available overnight for residents who lose power, until 7 a.m. on Thursday.
Spartanburg County officials said they received more than 40 calls for service during the storm.
The Hub City Spartanburgers postponed Wednesday night’s game to Thursday at 5 p.m. Tickets for Wednesday’s game can be redeemed for another game this season.
Cherokee County Emergency Management is reporting downed trees and power lines in the area of East Gaffney and Cherokee Falls.
Rutherford County has 1,500 Duke Energy customers without power.
McDowell County Emergency Management is reporting downed trees on Yancey Road and Hankis Road near Lake James. Quarter-sized hail has also been reported in the area.
Nickel and quarter-sized hail is being reported in Henderson County.
In Buncombe County, more than 1,000 Duke Energy customers were without power in east Asheville. By 6 p.m., most of the outages had been restored.
