AG: Spartanburg man charged with stealing nearly $275,000 from nursing home resident
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson said a Spartanburg man has been charged with stealing thousands from a nursing home resident.
Wilson said 65-year-old Gregory Lewis Drummond was charged with exploitation of a vulnerable adult, obtaining signature or property under false pretense and forgery.
According the attorney general, an investigation began in 2024 between February and October. Spartanburg police found that Drummond allegedly misused the funds and assets of a vulnerable adult without authorization.
Drummond is accused of fraudulently withdrawing approximately $274,900 from the victim’s Wells Fargo bank accounts by presenting forged power of attorney documents to gain access. The victim was a resident of Physical Rehabilitation and Wellness Center of Spartanburg.
Officials said Drummond was booked into the Spartanburg County Detention Center on Thursday and was granted a bond total of $60,000.
