Sheriff’s office offers cash reward for tips leading to arrest in Upstate theft cases

OCONEE COUNTY, S.C. (FOX Carolina) — The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is searching for the suspect in recent thefts.

The sheriff’s office said a deputy was called to the vehicle maintenance facility on Wells Highway the morning of March 23 after two vehicles were broken into.

Both vehicles are full-size pickup trucks. Power tools and equipment were stolen from each, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies say one of the trucks is assigned to Oconee County Vehicle Maintenance, while the other is assigned to Oconee County Roads and Bridges.

The sheriff’s office described the person of interest as a man with a beard wearing a baseball hat, an Ariat long-sleeve shirt, white shoes, sweatpants and glasses.

Deputies say the thefts may have happened in the early morning hours of March 22.

A property crimes investigator has taken over the case, according to the sheriff’s office.

Anyone with information on the thefts or the person of interest is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-844-71-CRIME. Tips can also be submitted online at 71crime.com or by downloading the free P3 app on your mobile device. All tips are anonymous, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies say if your tip leads to an arrest, you could be eligible for a cash reward.
