GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Greenville Design Review Board unanimously approved the architectural details and building materials for a proposed mixed-use development at the site of the American Legion building on North Main Street and Academy Street.

The project includes two apartment buildings, a parking garage, office spaces and retail shops.

No one spoke for or against the project at the meeting on Thursday. Neighbors had previously expressed concerns about the development.

Developers said they believe there was no pushback because they listened to feedback they received previously.

One developer said, “We’ve really worked hard to engage the community over the last few months. We’ve had multiple meetings and multiple opportunities to get feedback. Very careful to curate the materials so that they’re very muted and yet warm.”

“I think we were able to address their concerns. I think we’ve made some real meaningful moves as it relates to the massing. We really honed in and were deliberate with every aspect of the design,” Chris Boone, another developer, said.

Developers will next map out and figure out the details for construction of the project. They will then return to the review board to get approval before seeking building permits.
